ATEX Engineering Services
At Caltech we specialize in ATEX hazardous area applications. Breaker Servicing
Caltech Electrical Solutions provides full maintenance options for your ABB LV Breaker from fully trained and qualified engineers. ACBs' are unreliable if they are not serviced. If an ACB trips or is simply turned off, it may not be possible to turn it back on. This may lead to plant outages, which in turn could mean loss of production and revenue. Manufacturers recommend annual servicing.

Power Factor
Power factor is the relationship between working (active) power and total power consumed (apparent power). Essentially, power factor is a measurement of how effectively electrical power is being used. The higher the power factor, the more effectively electrical power is being used and vice versa. A distribution system's operating power is composed of two parts: Active (working) and Reactive (non-working) magnetising power. The ACTIVE power performs the useful work...the REACTVE power does not as its only function is to develop magnetic field required by inductive devices.
Thermographics
Caltech carry out thermographic surveys on all types of electrical installations from distribution boards to Motor Control Cabinets.The aim with the survey is to discover any hot spots within the Electrical Distribution Boards, under normal conditions, which could be an indicator of Loose Connections, Electrical Overload or Imminent Component Failure. Visual observations of faults are reported, even if no thermal issues were associated with those faults.
